看好台灣行動開發動能，Google 台灣在宣布開辦「Google Play 行動嘉年華」，並擴大在台中、台南、高雄等地舉辦的同時，也宣布 Google Play 新增「獨立製作遊戲專區」，並特別開闢「Made in Taiwan」區塊。

Google Play大中華區商務拓展負責人張雷表示，台灣高度的行動網路滲透率和成熟的使用行為，在短短數年內已引領亞洲、甚至帶動全球「行動第一」的風潮。去年 Google 在台灣所舉辦的全球首個「Google Play 遊樂園」活動獲得廣大迴響，韓國等國家更將相繼效仿。因此，今年 Gogole 決定擴大活動規模，在全台灣北、中、南四個城市舉辦活動，期待透過 Google Play 在台灣的持續蓬勃發展，讓台灣的企業、開發者、內容夥伴、甚至硬體製造廠，都能一同站上國際舞台。

張雷同步宣布，Google Play 新增獨立製作遊戲專區，並開闢「Made in Taiwan」區塊，讓台灣的獨立遊戲開發者更容易被看見、提升曝光率；此話一出，現場開發者大聲叫好，不過截至記者截稿前，進入 Google Play 首頁搜尋，還未見該專區上線。
